Expand Your Child’s Scope and Use of Language

Many teachers and parents of children with autism ask – How do I expand my child’s use of language beyond just having them request their favorite items and actions?

When your child has strong motivation for a favorite item or action, use that motivation to teach them to request other items and/or actions needed to obtain that item or action.

Please watch Oonagh as she uses Ryan’s favorite character to teach him to request other items necessary to items and actions.  Oonagh helps him to ask for specific parts of his character so that she can draw it.  Ryan is eager to learn and use new words and is rewarded with a completed drawing!
