Teaching a non-vocal student to request using sign can be life-changing for both the student and their family. It can be challenging for staff members to provide these necessary teaching opportunities if they aren’t familiar with a student’s specific sign targets. Here’s a tip that can assist staff members with this issue. Create a poster like the one pictured here!. Simply take pictures of someone signing each target (can be staff member) and post them on a wall in the classroom. Staff members can glance at the poster for a quick reminder of what each sign should look like.
